Privacy Policy
Playwatch is an app for tracking TV shows, movies and video games. This page explains what data it uses and why.
Publisher and data controller
Blue Cell Production — Gaël Bodevin, sole proprietor (SIRET 105 792 360 00015), Choussy, France. Contact: bluecellproduction@gmail.com
Data collected
- Account: your email address and password (the password is handled by Firebase Authentication and is never visible to the publisher). If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google only shares your email address, name and Google account ID; no password is shared.
- Your tracking content: shows, watched episodes, movies, video games, statuses, ratings you give, and the dates you added or watched them.
- Notifications: if you turn them on, a technical subscription identifier (push address provided by your browser or phone) and your time zone.
- Language and country: the language and country of your device, used to send notifications and calendar entries in your language and with your country's release dates.
- Premium purchase (optional): payment is processed by Google Play (Android app) or Stripe (iPhone and web). Playwatch never sees your card details; only the purchase confirmation, its reference, its amount and the payment email address are kept, to activate and prove your Premium access.
- Display preferences (theme, colors, tabs): stored only on your device. Your spoiler-free mode setting is also saved to your account, to hide episode titles in notifications and the calendar.
- Crash reports: when the app hits an error, a technical report is sent automatically (error message, app version, browser or system model and version, current tab, date, and the account ID and email if signed in). It is only used to fix bugs, can only be read by the publisher and is deleted once the issue is resolved.
- Calendar (Premium, optional): if you create a subscribable calendar, a secret link is saved to your account. Anyone with this link can see the release dates in your list; you can replace it at any time (Settings → Calendar).
Playwatch contains no ads and no audience-measurement tools, and never sells or shares your data for commercial purposes. No location, contacts or photos are collected, and no payment details are stored by Playwatch.
Purposes
- Syncing your tracking across your devices.
- Sending you, if you asked for it, a notification when a new episode, movie or game in your list comes out.
- Providing, if you asked for it, a calendar of the releases in your list.
- Detecting and fixing app crashes (the publisher's legitimate interest in providing a reliable service, GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Legal basis: performance of the service you request by creating an account (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
Hosting and processors
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) — data hosted in the European Union (Paris region, europe-west9).
- GitHub Pages — hosting of the app's code.
- GitHub Actions — automatic sending of notifications.
- Google Cloud Functions (European Union) — Premium purchase verification and subscribable calendar.
- Google Play and Stripe — Premium payment processing.
To show posters, synopses and release dates, your device queries The Movie Database (TMDB) and RAWG directly. These services receive your searches and your IP address, as with any website, but no information from your Playwatch account.
Retention
Your data is kept as long as your account exists. It is permanently deleted as soon as you delete your account, except for the Premium purchase reference, which is kept for the legal retention period for accounting records (10 years).
Your rights
You can access, export (Profile → Backup → Export my data), correct or delete your data at any time. You also have the right to object and to restrict processing. For any request: bluecellproduction@gmail.com. You can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr), or with the authority in your country.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile → Delete my account. All the steps are on the Data deletion page.
Children
Playwatch is not specifically aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Credits
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Video game data provided by RAWG.
